CAROLINAMAGAZINE For OCTOBER, 1942 Issues Propaganda is propaganda but wehave a new tack. Recently having seenWake Island, a picture shot with goreand dastardly enemy deeds, we felt asudden urge to retire deep into theOkeefeenokee Swamp with a .22 andfishing rod and a jug of stumphole.Death by shellfire seemed the deadliestdeath of all. Out of the theater, we re-membered as we tore the paper from atinfoilless pack of cigarettes. We re-membered the family buggy resting onits axles; we remembered a bus thattraveled at forty miles an hour; we re-membered cokes that taste like an in-dian should have done a dance as youpurchased them; we remembered thebitter reality of phys ed four times aweek; we remembered an obstaclecarolinamagazine1942univ
