Enrique (Henry in English) (aka Kiki) Berger was the grandson of a Jewish Holocaust survivor who escaped to Cuba. After the Communist Nationalization of the 60s, Kiki's dad moved the family to the US, more specifically Miami. Searching for a climate that would be similar to Cuba's Pinar del Rio, Kiki found himself in Estelí, Nicaragua. He bought some land and opened a cigar factory and started to cultivate some tobacco fields. An 18-year-old girl named Karen Perez started working in the factory as a roller. After a brief period of time, the two fell in love and got married. Kiki continued to grow the brand and Karen would be his authentic Nicaraguan cigar roller at various events in the US. The couple had great success. In 2010, Kiki needed a kidney transplant, and he looked far and wide and was having trouble finding a donor. As it turns out, Karen was a perfect match. She donated a kidney to Kiki! Unfortunately, Kiki passed away in 2014. After a 2 year struggle with a couple of silent partners who were involved with Cuban Crafters, Kiki's cigar Superstore with 6 locations..2 up north, 3 in Miami, and 1 in Daytona, she was able to take control of the company, and has been running it ever since. The store in Daytona Beach changed its name from Cuban Crafters to Don Kiki Superstore. The Don Kiki Gold was the last cigar that Kiki blended before he passed away, Karen blended the Don Kiki Platinum and the K by Karen Berger series...her 4 cigars are seeing international success like Kiki's cigars never have.
